2024 Goose Control Information

2024 Goose Nest & Egg Destruction season is rapidly approaching. Horsehead Lake Association has been issued a permit for Horsehead, Little John Brown, and Big John Brown Lakes. The permitted collection period is March 25 – May 9. If you are interested in participating and haven’t seen the training video previously, please see it at:

In 2023 there were 5 nests with 17 eggs reported during the season. There was also at least 1 nest with 5 more eggs found too late as the goslings were seen headed towards the water after hatching. Please report your successes and near misses to goose@horseheadlake.org. Our future and continued participation depend on reporting the results of activities under the permits.

If there are questions or concerns, please use the email above.
