THE WALLEYE ARE COMING – 2025
Update 10/27/25: Parking for volunteers at the Mecosta Township Lot on N. Horsehead Lake Dr. is very limited. However, Gingrich’s have offered to allow parking on their property at 8875- they have space for as many as 6 cars, but warn that the ground could be soft. Alternatively, a short walk past the lot, Les Keller (at 8825) and Al Nickerson (at 8831) have offered to allow parking on their driveways and on the road opposite. Finally, Steve Lundberg said his dock is still in and we are welcome to use it to release the fish. They are very close to deep water and lots of aquatic plants for cover. Big shout out to all neighbors for cooperating in this project.
Update 10/25/25: Yesterday we were notified that our walleye delivery will take place on Tuesday, October 28 at 10:30. The delivery will take place at the lot owned by Martiny Township on N. Horsehead Lake Dr. between the properties at 8875 and 8859. We could use a handful of volunteers to transport the fish in buckets about 20-30 yards from the truck to the lake. If you are willing to volunteer you must be able to handle a 5 gallon bucket full of water and fingerlings. I have attached a photo of the location.

Attention Horsehead/John Brown Lake Cottage Owners
Will our lakes become major Walleye fishing lakes? It has already started. Many fishermen have reported catching good sized Walleye this past year. We need your help to continue stocking our lakes with Walleye.
With the contributions from The Horsehead Lake Association, the Poker Run, land and cottage owners, we were able to plant 2,000 6-8 inch walleye fingerlings in 2016.

To date, we have planted more than 21,000 fish thanks to your donations and support!
Your continued support through funding of walleye stocking will help us grow this activity in the future.
Please note that checks must be made out to THE HORSEHEAD LAKE ASSSOCIATION, and indicate FISH FUND DONATION in the memo field (see below)
