New!
Poker Run
On Saturday, July
26th our Special Events Team is introducing a new event
which we are sure you will all enjoy. Any profits from this event will go
towards the Horsehead and John Brown Lakes Fish Fund.
The Poker Run will begin
at 1:00 P.M. and end at 4:00 P.M. Rules for this event
are as follows.
1. The
cost is $5.00 per person, for one hand, with registration beginning
at 12 noon at the sand bar on the south end of Horsehead Lake. You will
receive an envelope with your first playing card at this time.
2. At
least one person per boat must be an association member.
3. There
will be 6 sites around Horsehead and Little John Brown marked with a white
flag. These sites will be at the end of a dock or could be on a boat out
on the lake. As you locate these sites (and identify yourselves with the
colored envelope given to you during registration) you will be given an
additional envelope containing another card.
4. Do
not open any of the envelopes. Opened envelopes will disqualify the hand.
5. Bring
all seven (7) unopened envelopes back to the sand bar between 4 and
4:30 where they will be opened by event officials. The best 5 out of 7
cards will be used to determine your best hand.
6. Prizes
will be awarded at 4:30 at the sand bar. The winner will be the
player with the best hand and will receive half of the money collected.
7. Envelopes
containing jokers are eligible for a door prize. You will be given another
playing card to replace the joker by officials.
8. You
must be present to win a prize.
The success of this event
depends on all of us and how we follow the boating rules on the water.
There is plenty of time to locate all six sites in the allotted 3
hours, so please stay 100 feet from docks and rafts while looking for
flags, proceed around the lake in a counter clockwise direction, and
observe no-wake speeds where they apply.
Note: Rain date if
necessary is Saturday, August 2.
